Toketee Lake campground

Umpqua Hot Springs

We arrived at our campground in the evening, set up the tent, and made dinner. The campsite was really beautiful. There were quite a few people there since it was a holiday weekend, but it still felt like everyone had their own space. There is no potable water or shower at the campground, but they do have bathrooms.

The next morning, we woke up at 5 a.m. to make our way to Umpqua Hot Springs. We got there around 5:30 a.m. to try to beat the crowds, but there were already several people up there! The hot springs are only about a 10–15 minute drive from the campground, and the hike is also quite short, maybe half a mile each way or less.

There were a few steep and slippery sections, so definitely watch your step.

I would recommend getting there as early as you can! I was surprised by how hot the water actually was. We stayed for about an hour, but around 7 a.m. it started getting a little too crowded for me, so we headed back to the campsite to make breakfast

Crater Lake

After breakfast, we went to Diamond Lake Campground, where we took a shower and got ready for the day. We were hoping to take the North Entrance into Crater Lake since it was only about 30 minutes from Diamond Lake. Unfortunately, in late May, it was still closed. So, we had to drive around and take what ended up being about an hour-long detour to get to another entrance. A lot of Crater Lake was still closed, but once we got in, we walked along the Discovery Point Trail for a few miles. Even with many of the areas still inaccessible, the views were absolutely beautiful.

Toketee Falls & Watson Falls

On day three, we visited Toketee Falls and Watson Falls before heading out. Both are very close to the campsite and are short, relatively easy hikes.

Toketee Falls

This hike was about a five-minute drive from our campground and less than a mile round trip. There are lots of beautiful views along the way, although you can't actually go down to the waterfall. You view the falls from a viewing platform, but it was still definitely worth the stop.

Watson Falls

Another short hike, but so worth it! It's also about a mile round trip, although it has a little more elevation than Toketee Falls. The waterfall is beautiful and made for a great final stop before we headed out.
